I have a phantom shell from nzxt powered by a naxn 500w psu. My motherboard is a z77a-gd65 with an i3 processor and 2x2gb ram accompanied by an old school asus graphics card. The problem that i am having is: my led 1 alarm comes up EVERY time i boot it and will NOT allow me ta actually enter into the system. At first the mobo wouldn't allow pwer at all until i switched from 115-230v on da psu. It then allowed me powerage but would still turn off. I took off da cpu power cable going to the mobo and that worked but lights began. The lights that come on are for the power and reset switch and their perspective leds. I have checked many times to ensure correctness and it is. I NEED some serious help so any and/or all suggestions and knowledge u can provide would be absolutely apreciated. Thank you for ur time!

What brand is your MB, i.e. Asus/gigabyte? Is it new?

What brandmodel number is the RAM?  is it new? 

In which country do you reside?

Did you install new parts into the old case? or was it already built?

 

Please describe the alarm you hear, is it a continuous long beep or s series of beeps, i.e. one long and 2 short, repeated?

my mobo is an msi.  the ram is either mt8jtf25664az-1g4d1 1106 or 2gb 1rx8 pc3-10600u-9-10-a0. i live in hamilton, ontario, canada. shell, mobo, psu and processor are ALL new. the ram is old as well as the graphics card.  there is NO sound it is a new mobo so there is only led lights so i get a red and a blue led light that says that the problem is the led 1 socket and lights the problem socket up as well but the wires are PROPERLY placed.

Please perform the following as an initial test.

Unplug the PSU, take anti static measures by briefly touching a bare part of the computer case.

Remove the video card.

Disconnect all wiring  to the MB (include the HDD_ , except, the  24 pin JPWR1, the 8 pin JPWR2 and the CPU fan plug, connected to CPUFAN header, refer MB manual page #6.

Install only one stick of RAM, (the one marked 2gb 1rx8 pc3-10600u-9-10-a0, into slot #1, (closest to the CPU.)

 

Please ensure the red switch on the PSU is set to the low value, > switch on the PSU, Press the POWER1 button on the MB.

The PSU and CPU fans should spin up and keep going. Press and hold down the POWER1 for about 4 seconds to turn the system off.  > Switch off the PSU.

 

If the computer just shuts down, Move the stick of RAM to slot #2 and test again. then post back results.

If the computer still shuts down and the DrMos LED stays lit, check that the cooler is securely seated.   Look at the back of the MB and you should see four plastic locking pins sticking through the board, they should look like the image on page #13.(right side).   If they are not fully engaged, follow the instructions on the left side of the page.
