ok i have a samsung chrome note book that i picked up for the wife to use for her school   it does very well with no problems.

so i just picked up a printer for her to use on our wireless network. it is a samsung express m2070w

when i bought the printer i did not no that i had to have a computer that worked off of windows or mac.

so have a old xp and it will work ok with a old printer.

so i need to see if i and set up the printer on the xp so i can set up a wireless net work.

the problem is that when i connect the printer to the xp it does not recognize the printer.

i keep getting a error message that said printer not found.

please check the printers connection.

i cannot understand why the xp will recognize the old printer and not the new one?

Since you never set up this printer with the XP computer, you will want to run the installer cd and make sure that you download the latest drivers.

When you say that you connect the printer. Do you mean via usb cable so that you can do the initial set up? Have you tried a different usb cable? Are there any troubleshooting options with the pop up error message window?

It sounds that XP is supported by this printer, but with it being an older XP, you will want to make sure that everything is up to date. My guess is that this is a driver issue, possible windows updates, or usb related.

thanks for your help.   i let a samsung rep take control of my computer and they could not get it to work.

i did try another cable and it did not help.

the error message that i am getting is when i use the cd.  it pops up when i am asked to connect the printer to the computer.

on the printer box it said that   it is supported by windows or a mac. i did not see this or i would not have gotten this printer.

i dont want to use the printer with the xp.  i just want to set up the wireless network so i can use it with my chrome and my phone.

The drivers are available on the Samsung website here: Samsung Multifunction Printer Xpress M2070W

You want the 8th one down I think:

SamsugPrinter.jpg

The downloaded file is: SamsungUniversalPrintDriver2.exe

Double click on it to start the install. Don't connect the USB cable to the printer until it asks you for it.

the printer was hooked up at the time. if you think that it should not have been then i will try it again.

I'd say uninstall the driver if it shows in Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs.

Disconnect the USB cable, then install the driver. Connect the USB cable when prompted to do so.

i finally had time to look at again. i installed the program that you said. then it asked if i want to make this my default printer and i said yes. so then it searches for the new printer and i get the same message. printer not found.
