I just bought a new laptop and I'm having a ton of trouble connecting it to the internet wirelessly. Plugging in the ethernet cable works, but this is obviously not convenient. Notably, my network name is simply called "Network" rather than "BELL###", which is how it appeared to every other device in my home (regardless of being ethernet or wireless).
My laptop DOES sometimes detect my wireless network (and with the correct name), but it's at 1-2 bars despite being right beside the router and trying to connect it always fails. It also can't seem to detect any other nearby wireless networks like my neighbour's, which is making me think that there might be something wrong with the wireless adaptor itself.
I'm using Windows 8.1, and my adapter is an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160. I had updated the driver from 16.something to 17.1.0, but there was no difference between the two.
Thanks!
