Ok, hello my hopefull saviours
I recently bought a seagate sshd to replace my hitachi 500 gb so that I could use the redundant optical drive slot via a caddy,
the new seagate sshd was first to arrive so I replaced my hdd with it and performed a clean install using a usb and ISO plus my windows authentication number.
That all went along with no problems, numerous long winded updates etc,
Computer loading no problem,
Then the caddy for the optic drive arrived,
So before using it I have connected the old hitachi 500gb hdd to acomputer with a sata usb boxand reformatted it so that I ended up with a single drive, called 'simple',
Terminology ,not sure, what the comp called it,
I found a thred which enabled me to delete the recovery partition and was able to have the disk show as 'e' as a 'simple' drive,
I thought this would be good now there was no other os interfereing,
If I have the 'caddy drive' connected(I can push it out of connection given it is in the optical bay) there is no boot,
Without the caddy connected start up is normal,
If I startup with caddy out then push it in during startup it will show in 'my computer' as a drive- 465gb empty,
If I restart the computer from this point it will just hand at the acer screen and I can do nothing, no F2, no F12,no option other than power off,
Pop the caddy out(removing the second hdd) and it will boot normally.
So I guess my question is was I fed some bs and laptop cannot actually deal with another hdd in the optical bay?
