No icons in system tray & most fixes dont work.

I've tried so many fixes online to no avail. My systray icons are missing apart from the clock and I need a few of them back as my digital camera can only be safely removed from my pc if I eject it via the system tray icon.

The option in the properties area of the taskbar to hide inactive icons or customize the bar is greyed out and unusable.

Please help, thank you.
(Running windows xp)

Hi Mosguito. Welcome go Geeks to Go. I think you may have malware infection. Work your way through the guide at the top of this forum where it says "Do you suspect a malware (Spyware, Virus, Trojan) infection? Please start here. " This enables folks to solve most problems on their own. If you still have a problem after that, post a hijack this log in the malware forum at

how'd you fix it? I have the same problem and running the latest updated Adaware did nothing to help.
