Well that is a legit web site i use it myself verizon.net
Try this it uses adobe flash may have told you once before http://www.speedtest.net/
Although it is a security risk, maybe should look for an older version of flash, just to try out. Seems this issue more prominent on Windows 7 with most.

Hmmm...........now see this site uses flash player. 18ms not so good of ping. Can always try resetting modem. Try again. Sometimes get different results on more then one try, also try verizon's site. http://my.verizon.co...Z_Z_ZZ_N_Z00139
But this was not your issue, but able to use a sites that required shockwave. Without it, would not be able to.

O.k. well pings got slower. But might be many things, provider issues, PC, wires. Did you reset modem through it's settings page too ?
Find router here and show you how to reset it. Make sure know your user name and password.

Would be a new topic then. My concern was you were able to use a site that requires Flash player, you should try both browsers.

My browsers have been ok the last few days.
So if my ping is still not good, you want me to start a new topic?
One last question - my C: used space is about 57%. That's not high, is it?

Good the browsers are working o.k. now, hopefully they stay that way as you know there were so many factors that could cause the issues you had besides the typical ones for firefox.
If you want to start another topic about ping, but i feel might be best to first contact Verizon they can diagnose it over the phone, you can also try what is called Verizon In Home Agent from there website.
Although i never cared for this product, can try just your PC Network troubleshooter make sure everything is o.k. and optimal, use it from the bottom of taskbar in notificatin area by right clicking the network icon.
This might not be a consistent issue with ping, might be temporary, could of been the server you pinged, why i said try Verizon's site, pick the closer to you server.
Well 57% is half the drive, part of the drive is used for pagefile and write caching. Could be some of causes of your performance problems in past posts here before you even made any changes and cleaned system up.
Not too high, not too low. Sooner or later gonna fill up if you want to add more software, otherwise it should be fine. Also spEed of drive makes a dofference to 7200RPM or 5400RPM. Unless it is a SSD.

Sorry, I don't know what this means
Also spEed of drive makes a dofference to 7200RPM or 5400RPM. Unless it is a SSD.
Can I adjust my drive speed?
How do I know if I have a SSD? (I doubt it. I didn't get anything fancy).

Means Revolutions Per Minute of a mechanical drive, obviously the higher the faster, this is only with that type of drive HDD. SSD Solid State Drive, no moving parts like older Hard Disk Drives,HDD. Say SSD more similar to a USB flash drive, other SD Flash drives. No speed can not be adjusted on a mechanical drive.
So you are not sure what you have in system, that what your saying ? Check here at run command type msinfo32 go to Components, click +, select Storage, select Drives or Disks. Not sure where else can detect it unless open case and look, most likely have a HDD, Mechanical. Use make and model number listed you see, google it, get info on drives specs.

O.k. so it is a HDD Western Digital 640GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache, not a Solid State Drive.
Decent i always went with Western Digital.
You ran your chkdsk and SFC already so your good, drive was good from log.
Take a look at this free program, good for checking specs on PC, let you know what you have on it, so if you ever are not to sure, it's free http://www.piriform.com/speccy
