Hi,
A few days ago, I went to listen to some music on my PC, but no sound was coming out of my speakers. I checked the device manager and everything seems to be functioning properly, i.e. no icons over the audio drivers. Anyway, I proceeded to download the latest drivers for NVIDIA GeForce 8400gs and NVIDIA High Defination Audio, but there's still no sound coming out of my desktop speakers. I also checked to see that my desktop speakers had sufficient power and the cable running from PC's light green output plug is functioning. I actually took the audio cable and plugged it into my cell phone headphone jack to check to see if audio was going to the speakers and it's working fine. I then went to Start, Run and typed in 'dxdiag' as someone had told me to do on a forum online. It brought up the little window and I was instructed to click on the Sound tab, which I did and to test the sound. When i did it asked me if I heard any sound. I didn't so I hit No. Then it displayed a message that read:
DirectSound test results: Failure at step 19 (User verification of software): HRESULT = 0x00000000 (error code)
So I did a quick search online and it recommended downloading the latest drivers, which I already did, but still nothing. So I'm stumped. I don't really know where to check. Can anyone out there help me out? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks a bunch.
Oh, I attached a picture of my system info just in case.
