and now? :)

Much better :)

And I see the problem clearly now, it can't have any space between the slash and the argument like this:  sfc_/scannow and the same in findstr_/c:"[SR]"_%windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log_>"%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt"

Note: I used a _ to show you where to type the spaces.

HI, thanks and sorry for replying late - somehow missed your response!

So Scannow worked and it didn't reveal any violations. Then I typed the second command without any spaces and nothing happens :(

And my computer continues to freeze with a blue screen announcing Drive- power- state- failure :(

Hi Anna,

The second part is only important if sfc found problems.

Please repeat the steps on post #12 and post a new log.

Hi,

Please run the following commands from the Command Prompt running as Administrator.

Press windows8_key.png + X and click Open Command Prompt (Admin)
type first:

dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth

second:

dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Please post the result of the two commands.

The last log doesn't show any new problem with the Wireless driver, less one problem...

Ok. In that case we need to continue working on the machine to see if we can find the problem.

The error Drive- power- state- failure it's usually related to a drivers problem, let's update them but please don't try to do it using automated programs.

You can download the drivers for your model and for Windows 8.1 here.

Start by installing the Chipset Driver then the Intel Graphics Driver

OK, both done and restarted (which is a pain as you know!).

other observations:

 - after the crash and restart my Avira antivirus magically becomes outdated again and I have to reinstall (shall i get rid of it altogether?)

- windows gives me an error message that I need to reinstall bluetooth driver.

Now I also can not log in to my virtual work environment (using citrix receiver) because my security settings are blocking the access.. tried different browsers and installed all  windows updates. Could it be related to some general bug that I have??? aaah how annoying!

I forgot about Avira I was thinking that you have only Windows Defender included on Windows 8.1

Please uninstall Avira and them make sure Windows Defender is updated and running until we can locate the source of the problem.

About the bluetooth driver this can happen after the Chipset driver update because this one is "like the base" to install the other drivers.

Visit the Asus page linked above, select Windows 8.1 64 bits and download and install the most recent bluetooth driver v3.1.1311.0402

I'm not familiar with citrix receiver I will search about it. Run MiniToolBox with only the option List last 10 Event Viewer log and post the generated log, let's see if there system recorded some error that could help us on the citrix problem.
