Hi,

Do you have any Bluetooth device connected?

Edit: If you press windows8_key.png + X and click Device Manager do you see any device with yellow exclamation marks?

The error seems related to the combination of sleep mode and Bluetooth...

Something you could try if the problem continues is to access the Device Manager and change the properties of the Bluetooth devices on the Power configuration, uncheck the option Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power or similar.

Hi, thanks! I don't have Power configuration option in the device manager :(

Strange I have that option on Windows 7 and I think it should be available also on Windows 8!

Does the problem continues?

Let's get a report from windows...

Press windows8_key.png + X and click Open Command Prompt (Admin)
type:

powercfg -energy -output "%userprofile%\Desktop\PowerReport.html"

A file called PowerReport.html will be created on the Desktop, please attach the file to your post.

Hi,

There is a BIOS update for your computer that updates some code related to resuming from sleep mode, in your situation I would try to update.

You need to download the two files bellow:

- Windows BIOS Flash Utility

- BIOS Update v216

  1. Install the Windows BIOS Flash Utility
  2. extract the file UX32AAS216.zip to the Desktop
  3. Close all the programs and make sure you disable the Antivirus protection
  4. Execute the Windows BIOS Flash Utility
  5. Select Update BIOS from file and point the program to the file extracted from the zip
  6. Confirm to start the update process
  7. Wait for confirmation that the update ended successfully and then Restart the Computer

Hi,

At this point I think you need to consider restoring Windows 8 to factory settings because it's a easy way to check if the machine have some hardware problem or not.

Before restoring you need to backup all your data and then do a full restore, if after this the problem continues then you know for sure that you have an hardware problem.

After restoring if the machine works fine then you should update all the drivers provided by Asus to Windows 8.1 and only then upgrade to Windows 8.1, doing those steps with some days apart it should allow you to see if the problems starts after a specific step.

Just to give an update - the disabling of bluetooth didn't change anything. The computer continues to freeze :(

Haven't restored to factory settings yet... once on a holiday will do that and report back ..
