I recently reformatted the HDD and reinstalled Windows XP on a PC I am going to give to a friend.  I went to the Intel download center and thought I downloaded and installed all pertinent drivers.  However, when looking at the Device Manager, there is a yellow question mark next to Ethernet Controller and Multimedia Audio Controller, both found under Other devices.

I went back to Intel's download center to locate the driver for the Ethernet Controller and did not find one.  Here is the link for the page I looked at:

https://downloadcent...=889&ProdId=889

The motherboard is an Intel D845GEBV2

OS is Windows XP Professional 32-bit

Not sure if I'm just not seeing it or what.  I've done this before, though it's been awhile.

Your help is appreciated.

Hello Webslinger64

If you are trying to use the on board ethernet capabilities,

then I believe you were on the right page.

This should be the right driver to get the ehternet controller working.

I'll get back to you on the audio controller issue.

Thank you and have a great day.

You also may well have been on the right page for the Audio as well.

In device manager did you expand the item for "Sound, video and games controllers", and are there any yellow or red marks in there, as it should say AC97 for the audio.

According to the full specification sheets your motherboard should have the AC97 audio system, unless of course a separate sound card has been installed.

Go back to that drivers list and scroll down to where it says Audio AC97 ADI and try the driver from that, if that isn't the right one, (Which it might not be) go right to the bottom of the list to the next to the last entry where it says and is the link, which I think is actually the correct one.
