Danix22,

There are a few details left to take care of it seems. Can you tell me if you are having any problems with Windows Updates not installing? Your system is one Service Pack behind what is available for XP and I need to get your system up to date.

Can you tell me what happens when you go to START > All Programs > Windows Update?

Does the check go through properly (web site opens and lists the available updates)?

If there is any available, do they install ok when you select them or do you get an error when the updates try to install?

What else does the message say?  Does it give a warning about activating before logging on?  Or does it say you have 30 days to activate?

Along with the questions asked in the post above, can you go to this web site ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916247 ) and run the steps in the Resolution section.  If the steps do not solve the issue, the diagnostic web page will at least give us the reasons for the non-validation of your Windows and we can correct the issue from there.

Hi Danix22,

Along with the information from the previous posts, it will be helpful to get some data from the following tool:

MGA Diagnostic Tool
  • Download the MGADiag Tool and save it to the desktop.
  • Double click the MGADiag.exe file to run the program
  • Click the Continue button
  • Wait for the tool to finish loading with your system information
  • Ensure that the Windows tab is selected. (It should be by default.)
  • Click the Copy button to copy the MGA Diagnostic Report to the Windows clipboard.
  • Paste the MGA Diagnostic Report in your next reply.

Hang on, danix22, I'm trying to dig up some help on this issue.

Also, the key is usually on the stick on the bottom of the laptop or the outside of the cabinet (for a desktop system).  Are you saying that the sticker is missing or you never had one?

Danix22,

Sorry for the delay but if the installation key is all you need to have a correct validation then perhaps this will help.

Please download Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder from this website. Install the program and run the installed application. It will scan you system and locate the Product Key and CD key for Windows. Use those keys to try to validate Windows XP.

I believe that the SP3 was the biggest concern right now. I will check with my adviser and be back shortly.

I am very happy the system got validated; big load off everyone's mind!
