Hi, experts! I have some issues recently with my PC (bought 2-nd hand, WIN 7 installed), but before going specific I'd like to make general health test for my computer. I am not sure that the problems are malware or virus related.  There is a lot of advertisement on the net regarding this topic, but most of them offer limited functions and if I want a full and reliable version (their words!) I must pay $$$. Is there some REALLY good tool that one can trust without spending that kind of money ($ is OK, free is better). I use periodically Malwarebytes which was recommended on this forum years ago, but still sometimes I think (or feel) that my computer is out of its senses.

Thank you.

Hello 7625965

but before going specific I'd like to make general health test for my computer.

A "general health test" is extremely vague.

Are you referring to a scan for existing malware on your system?

Or a security scanner to test for vulnerabilities?

Or maybe a scan of your hardware and OS, to make sure all is running smoothly?

I would suggest being a little more specific about your issues,

and possibly following the directions on this page.

This should get you better results here at gTg.

Thank you and have a great day.

"A scan of my hardware and OS, to make sure all is running smoothly" is my first preference.

I"ll check the link also.

Thank you.

When quoting another users reply, please

try to keep your own reply out of the quote box.

I would say the best way to check your OS for issues would

be to check your system files first.

To do this use the built in System File Checker.

Here's how: Open a command prompt as administrator.

To do this, open the Start Menu.

Click on All Programs, then Accessories.

Right click on Command Prompt, and click on Run as Administrator.

win7 cmd admin.jpg

Now in the command prompt copy and paste the text in the box below and hit enter:

sfc /scannow

If Windows finds any errors in your system files,

you may need your Windows 7 install disc to repair these.

Star with this, then post back and I will give you some more suggestions.

Thank you and have a great day.
