Hello joshhilgendorf

Sorry for the delay my friend, I was on a long awaited vacation.

I have a couple more things we can try.

Please open a command prompt and once there,

type in: cd c:\

You should now see this: C:\>

Now type in: boot.ini

A notepad should open.

If it does then please post everything it says.

Word-for-word, line-for-line, please.

I understand you probably can't just copy/paste it here from that

system. So maybe write it down, then manually type it in your reply.

In my last reply I asked you to do a couple of things.

Okay now navigate to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ WindowsNT \ CurrentVersion \ WINLOGON

In Winlogon, on the right side, there should be a value called Shell.

Double click  this value. Make sure only Explorer.exe appears in the value of Shell,

if anything else is there, simply delete it and leave Explorer.exe alone.

This step in particular, make sure once you click on the Winlogon key,

on the right side scroll down until you see the name shell.

The type should be REG_SZ and under data you should see Explorer.exe.

You should see nothing else besides Explorer.exe.

Post back with the results please.

Thank you and have a great day.

Hello joshhilgendorf

Just out of curiosity, after you have done the steps in my last post,

see if you can open an explorer window from command prompt.

Open command prompt and type in: cd %systemroot%

You should see: C:\Windows>

Now type in: explorer.exe

See if a window opens up showing your documents folder,

or something like that. Or if it spits out an error, post back

exactly what it says.

A side note, usually you dont have to do the cd %systemroot%

part, or even type the .exe after explorer.

You can just open command and type in: explorer

But seeing as you don't have explorer.exe running, we'll try it this way.

Thank you and have a great day.
