Hey all.

I have a Geforce 4000 MX graphics card and whenever i try to play Jedi Academy or Age of Mythology it freezes or comes up with a visual c++ runtime error. im over the requirement settings but it still comes up with that error or just freezes, please help.

When it crashes it just reboots, but when i get the error its an:

Visual C++ Runtime Error
C:/Programfiles/game directory

its to which ever the game directory is, but i know its not the game theres somthing else

whatever game i play is what the directory that comes up. So it would be

You can start by getting the most recent video card drivers and directx drivers, also i would suggest getting the latest updates to the games if your running them legit. Can you describe the error a little bit more also. Did you install the whole M$ Visual C++ and the rest of that junk on your computer?

thats the error that comes up i cant really explain it anymore,

i have all the updates for the game (legit), graphics card drivers and directx. I goes really glitchy and i have to ctrl+alt+delete to end the task.

ok, that answered a lot of questions.

now lets go change some settings. please go to my computer, right click and go to properties. click on the advanced tab. click on startup and recovery. about mid way down there should be an item called "automatically restart". deselct this box. we don't want it to auto restart. click ok.

ok, now thats done try to go and play one of the games. what I am looking for is a blue screen. hopefully it will give you a stop code. say stop 0x0000008a for example followed by some additional info. then it will say in what location/where it occured. those are the 2 pieces of info that I need.

well I belive its your video. open your case up and look at the board. there should be an offset slot, normally collered brown, just above the white slots (pci slots). this would be the agp port. if you don't see one then you don't have the option to upgrade your video.

i just upgraded my video card to 128mb

NVIDIA Geforce4.

Theres and AGB slot and this is the problem im getting with it. I already sent it backto get a faulty one removed so its not that.

they are up to 71.84. you are at 61.72.

download the new video drivers, but do not install.
download drivercleaner from http://drivercleaner.net/

uninstll your current video card from the device manager.

reboot and then run drivercleaner to make sure the driver have been removed completely.

run the install for the new drivers you downloaded.

reboot and see what heppens. hopefully your c++ error will go away.
