Hello friends. I have some questions regarding the kind of GPS units that you use when driving in the car, not an on-board computer, but one that simply plugs into the lighter and hangs on the windshield.

I've had Garmin & TomTom units. Honestly, I haven't notice too much difference between the way they give directions, or the features they offer. But in the last month, my current GPS which is the TomTom XXL has started to act up, I don't think I need to go into the details.

My questions are...

How do the major GPS companies compare with the maps they offer?

The rate they update maps?

The number of satellites they have?

Tthe ability to connect to the satellite?

The major 3 in the United States are TomTom, Garmin and Magellan? Or does Magellan not even compare?

Thanks very much
