is this what your after?

the video is for mint, but the process is the same for all ubuntu derivatives like lubuntu.

i'm not sure because i've never used google talk, voice text chat, hangouts or whatever they call it.

i've always used skype myself so no real idea of what's needed to use googles voice/chat services, always thought it was just browser based and needed a plugin to work, then you just logged into a google account in your browser to access text, voice, video, sms functions.

so i'd be grateful if you could supply me with some more information, like what google phone does and give me a link to what you've already installed on your lubuntu laptop also explain what features you have working and what features your missing out on and want to install/use?

Terry   Thanks for the reply,  I will look into what you sent me and let you know if it worked or not.

I Have google phone installed on my Lubuntu, I am using firefox and I have instructions for installing PHONE but not

google talk. They must be seperate installs, anyway the phone works great  I can call anyone for free directly to there phone

for free united states and canada. 10cents a minute outside the US.

You have to use the Terminal to put codes in to install it, then and this is important, you must go to the google talk plugin and set it

to "Always Activate" if you dont it wont work. I find out the hard way about that.

Anyway I want to work on install and using google talk (not phone) I pretty sure you have to use Pidgon and I have the Pidgon

messenger screen come up but I dont see where I can call a contact like on yahoo messenger. I will have to experiment.

yes, sorry not much help, because i've never used their services.

i do believe that all you need is a google+ account now and everything is in hangouts, instant messaging, video calls, etc, etc

https://www.google.c...nmore/hangouts/

before hangouts you could use any chat client like pidgin or kopete etc (and still can to a limited extent) but i believe google stopped supporting/using xmpp for their instant chat and combined all their different services/programs into the 1 program called hangouts, so i believe your better off sticking to using hangouts on your pc.

sorry can't be more help,
