Hi all,
I'm hoping you can help, My dad is running Windows XP on an older machine (10 years, give or take). His computer was running extremely slow and I came over to run some scans to find out what the problem was. Malware Bytes and Spybot Search and Destroy detected a plethora of trojans and other nasty things. I went into his registry and started cleaning/removing the associated registry values. I attempted to boot in safe mode several times so I could run the scans in safe mode, however, this was to no avail. I ended up going into MSConfig and clicking the button for boot in safe mode (sorry, don't remember the exact wording). Now, when his computer loads up, it loads to the Safe Mode Screen, reading Microsoft ® Windows XP ® (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158:Service Pack 2) and I cannot get any further. I tried doing system restore off of the XP Operating System disk also to no avail. I wouldn't mind doing a fresh install of XP, except that my dad has pictures and other things that I'd like to back up. Now, I can't even get to those because I can't get past this screen. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Rick
