Hello Phill,
We were unable to undo all the screws to clean inside the laptop, but nevertheless we did manage to get the CD/DVD drive working again. Our daughter also has deleted a lot of stuff and now has almost 36% free space.
Thank you for your help. Hopefully I will not have to trouble you again.
