Thunderbird rejects my password to my email and gives me this error message:  "Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server incoming.yahoo.verizon.net responded: (#AUTH012) Incorrect username or password"

However, the password is good because I can log on and access my email on the Verizon Yahoo web page.

I'm having the same problem. I updated my pop settings, smtp settings, and I know I have the right password because it work on the web.

I did have to change from incoming.yahoo.verizon.net and something else - but it still doesn't recognize my password.

Here are some more data.   When I first open Thunderbird, I am not asked to supply my password, rather, I immediately get the error message I quoted in my first post.   Even stranger, I can still send emails.  Even though I never enter a password, and I can not receive emails, but I still can send email from Thunderbird perfectly successfully.

Hi,

If you know that the pass is good then check the username in some cases you have to send only the username in others the full e-mail address username@verizon.net or something similar.

With Thunderbird, like Outlook, there is no "sign in" or user name.   When I go to the verizon yahoo web page to read my email, then I must enter my username and password.

Trusted Helper,

I apologize, you are correct.  Indeed, although I do not physically type in a user name when Thunderbird loads up, Thunderbird, of course, sends the user name to verizon yahoo with the password.  I went into my account settings and added the @verizon.net to my user name and voila!  all is well again.

What amazes me is that Verizon Yahoo did not notify it millions? of users to make this simple change (then again, knowing Verizon - I should not be amazed).

Thanks
