Ethernet port on back of my HP

Running Windows 7 on my Hp desktop cant connect internet thru the Ethernet lights don't work nor will my computer allow me to connect wireless always says error. Is there any way I cant connect to the internet? How and what will I need to fix this issue myself?

Hi queenb33251,

 

Which light are you talking about ? One on the modem (router) or have you checked the one on the back of the PC where ethernet cable connects to, should be lights there.

 

I would keep it connected and run the network troubleshooter as described here  http://windows.micro...er-in-windows-7

Help diagnose if there is a settings problem. Also try unplugging modem for 15 seconds, then plug it back in, reboot PC too.

 

Other PC can use also on this modem ?

The lights are off on the back of the pc where u plug in the Ethernet cable. I will try the other things u said.

Lights would only be on when the ethernet jack is plugged in the PC and would flicker at times when receiving data. Lights are off when plugged in not being recognized on PC.
