I get this message every time I start up my iMac "Please enter your iCloud password."

I keep a careful record of the many passwords I set up in various places and the list does not include one for iCloud, but it is just possible that I (or the person who set me up last year when I switched from a PC) set one up and I have forgotten the fact - and the password, of course.

For a long time I have just been clicking Cancel and have been able to carry on using the computer, but this is obviously not a very satisfactory state of affairs.

Can you suggest what I should do, please?

I've tried looking online for this exact question, but people only seem to ask about forgotten passwords but not about finding out for sure if they have one!

Hello sue.words,

Do you use iTunes etc, if yes then the password for iCloud will be the same, if you do not use iTunes/Apple store and have never had a password/Apple ID I would suggest that you contact Apple in case of any security risk/s, Apple contact information here

Thank you for a very quick response, Phill. I have an Apple ID and I do occasionally use iTunes. I wondered if the iCloud password was the same but couldn't find confirmation. But you are saying just that, aren't you, that the iCloud password and the Apple password are the same?

That is correct Sue but only if you have a single Apple ID, an explanation here

You are welcome btw  :)

After following your nice clear instructions, Phill, I have confirmed that I have only one password for all these functions.

One more item to tick off on the to-do list!

Thank you again so much!
