Okay then. On to the next action. :)

Please download zoek.exe and save it to your desktop (Firefox users right click and Save Link As...).

  • Close any open browsers.
  • Temporarily disable your AntiVirus program. (If necessary)
  •     Double click zoek.zip
  •     Double click on zoek.exe to run.
  •     Please wait while the tool starts. It will appear to be doing nothing and may take a few seconds to come up.
  •     Copy the text below and paste it into the large window in the zoek tool:

CHRDefaults;
AutoClean;

  •     Click on Run script button
  •     Please wait patiently (it may take a few minutes) until a log report will open (this may be after reboot, if required)
  •     Copy (Ctrl +C) and paste (Ctrl +V) the contents of the opened entire report back here.

Note: It will also create a log in the C:\ directory named "zoek-results.log"

I'm sorry I can't get the link to work. I even tried it in IE and when I click on exe it won't respond. I saved it to the desktop from Firefox but it just saves an htm file, not the exe file itself.

but reddit is now working.

Some progress then. :)

Next move is a re-installation of Chrome.

Firstly though

You might like to backup your bookmarks. Go to the link below to learn how to export Chrome's bookmarks. You can save them somewhere you can find them and import them back to Chrome when you reinstall.

https://support.goog...wer/96816?hl=en

Step 2

Go to the link below for instructions to uninstall Google Chrome. Use the Windows instructions for Windows Vista/ Windows 7/ Windows 8

Note: To clean Chrome properly you must remove your profile information so make sure you tick the "Also delete your browsing data" check box.

Step 3

Download and reinstall Google Chrome.

Tell me if that makes things better.

I take it that means Chrome is still crashing. :)

Please download Security Check by screen317 from here .

  •
  • Save it to your Desktop.

  • Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.

  • A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

Next

Please download Event Viewer by Vino Rosso and save it to your desktop.

  • Double-click VEW.exe (with Vista or later right click and run as administrator)
  • Under 'Select log to query', Check the System box
  • Under 'Select type to list', Check  Error & Warning boxes
  • Under Number or date of Events > 'Number of events' Type 20 in the 1 to 20 box
  • Click the Run button.

Notepad will open with a log. Please post the log back here.

So when you return please post

Checkup.txt

Event Viewer Log

Okay, we will leave that one for now.

Please try disabling Windows Firewall and then try Chrome.

Tell me if that makes a difference.

To turn off Windows Firewall go to Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Firewall > and on the left panel click Turn Windows Firewall on or off

  • In the window that opens check the Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended) items.
  • Click OK.

Let's check if running in Safe Mode works.

Boot into Safe Mode:

1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap F8 continually.
3) If you are asked what mode to bootup in press Esc to boot in the default settings
4) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
5) Select the option to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Tell me if that makes a difference.
