This is behind my TV and another exact plate is where you would put the entertainment cabinet. What is it? And where can I get cables for it? Someone mentioned "smart cables" but I have no idea what that is.10403458_10101038639340482_1637936299205785258_n.jpg

looks like a coaxial connection plate to me, and at a guess just because there are 5 connections, i'd say it was used for speaker connections to the other plate.

usually tho that type of connection is used for tv signals so might be the main panel for all tv connections in bedrooms and elsewhere in the home but doubt it seeing how you said there is an exact panel on other side of room.

here's some images of coaxial cables and connections. :- https://www.google.c...gcKQ7kudDUY524=

i guess it could also be a fibre connection between the 2 plates also but without actually testing it, can't say for certain, at night when it's dark try shining a light down 1 connection and see if a light shows at other plate, if so then you'd know it is a fibre connection between the plates and not a solid wire.

They just may be fibre optic connections though I doubt it, they look like the RCA or Phono type connectors to me, have a look at this,

http://en.wikipedia....i/RCA_connector

If they are an interconnection to the other plate, each RCA socket is a single line between the two, so can be used for speaker connections and some types of video as well.

Ideally a look under the floor and trace where the cables go will tell you more.

yes i'd say rca/phono connection too thought they had screw ends but after taking a closer look it's just worn from plugging and unplugging a phono connector, so most probably was used for speaker connections to other plate.
