Hi, sorry if this is a dull question; I'm a computer repair novice
My darling son blew up (literally) my hard drive last christmas, have been to skint to replace it till this week. I bought a new one online and put it in and attempted to use my HP recovery disks.
I assumed that as it was an identical hard drive the disks should work; however, after I put in the 3rd disk the process gets to 56% and then stops, giving me a message 'Error code 0xe0ef00e please contact HP customer support'.
As my desktop is out of warranty they want to charge me £40 just to speak to someone, I think I might just need new recovery disks.
So, questions; do i need to buy new recovery disks or is there some way of making my lovely new hard drive work without them?
Thanks in advance for any help and advice:)
