My dad is looking to upgrade his laptop he has had for a while now, and he needs a solid mid range laptop (between $500-700 preferably) that has a great battery and can stay cool without a chill pad. He uses it a lot for YouTube, email and online chess. Not a power user, so a good battery and well designed case are more important than anything else.

Any suggestions?

Thanks dudes.

Inspiron 15 7000 Series Touch

The Dell Inspiron 15 7000 brings a fresh look to the Inspiron line while keeping a focus on fast performance and, most importantly, long battery life. This sexy and affordable mainstream notebook provided us with 9 hours and 26 minutes of Wi-Fi Web surfing, making it an ideal companion for working and playing on the go.

Not my words but from an independent review  :)

Worth mentioning is that many newer notebook type computers have integrated batteries, this can be problematic and expensive when the battery expires as it will often require the services of a tech/store to swap out the battery, the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 does not have this problem.

Looks like a great machine! Great price, features and reviews make this one a good fit. The chassis looks well designed too so my dad doesn't look like he will have to worry about it getting too hot.
