Hi all,

I don't know if this is something this forum welcomes, if not, forgive me.

I have a small javascript project for someone wanting to test their skills, or something to fill up any small amounts of spare time, or just someone wanting to show off! ;)

I know basic html and css. I have very, very little javascript knowledge, and with 2 young children and a 50 hour working week, it would probably take me years(!) to acquire the skill set needed to complete this little project. That said, if it goes against forum etiquette to essentially ask someone else to do something for me, then I guess I'll have to take this on and hope for the best.

OK, well, here goes. In a nutshell, what I'm wanting to do is create a script that searches a specific web page and performs an action. This is a game I play in my limited spare time (I realise how contradicting that may sound... "I don't have time to learn the required skills yet have time to play a game" - I only play this game in 5 minute bursts, probably half a dozen times per day).

The URL I'm going to give you is giving you access to one of my gaming profiles. This profile has been set up specifically for this forum post, so please don't feel as though you'd be intruding on MY game profile.

Please visit this url

http://vl.storm8.com...el=Droid&sv=2.2

You will then be presented with an update screen. This is fine, but after loading the above URL, in the same window, change the url in the browser URL bar to http://vl.storm8.com/hitlist.php

If the hitlist currently shows 0 people on it, please just keep refreshing until someone pops onto it...there's usually always people on it, if not, it's nothing a few F5's shouldn't fix!

This will take you to the hitlist section of the game. You'll be presented with something like this...(I'm giving you these links so you are able to examine the source code of the page).

So we have a list of 5 players currently on the hitlist. This is constantly changing, as players are attacked on the hitlist and 'killed'. Once killed, they are removed from the list. By clicking on the name of the player, you can view their profile. Each profile has a specific link. This link is always changing, however, there is one part of the link which stays constant. This is the PUID. For example, this is the link to the player above named 'Sassy'.

http://vl.storm8.com/profile.php?puid=1713991&formNonce=cd233610898f98420c0ff6971098491ccf5e1165&setTab1Badge=&h=f1d5323ad82c56c4e9692f7c03392e9fae5ce328#&setTab0Badge=&changeApplicationBadge=0&setTab4Badge=

As you can see, the puid of the player is 1713991. This is a number which never changes.

Now, what I want to do, is have a script which looks something like this, that appears towards the top of the page.

When you navigate to the persons profile, you are able to grab the puid from the profile link. This would then populate the box at the side of the 'Get ID' button. The 'PUID Kill' option is a check box. Once checked, upon navigating to the http://zl.storm8.com/hitlist.php page, the script would then refresh the page every 0.5 seconds. The script would then perform a search of the page. It would be searching for any links that contain this puid number. Once found, it would then click the 'Attack' button at the side of that persons profile name, effectively attacking that person. Depending upon how much health that profile has (when their health reaches 1, they are killed and removed from the hitlist. I would like the script to reattack the person until they are removed. I would like the script to constantly refresh until a) the PUID Kill box is unchecked or the user navigates away from the hitlist.php page. Please can I point out that I don't want this to work on any other page other than the hitlist.php page.

I'm asking a lot, I'm expecting to be turned down...but I thought I'd give this a shot...in case anybody wants something 'simple' (I use that term loosely - simple for you guys, god [bleep] hard for me) to work on.

Thanks guys/gals.
