My computer is a Toshiba Laptop L755 running on Windows 7.

Aside from major lag when playing videos and running basic programs such as mozilla firefox or MS office, on BitTorrent, i have been receiving a few "cyclic redundancy errors" in the past few months and this week, the majority of my downloads have had that same error.

I downloaded and ran Seatools and it failed both the "Long generic" and "Short Generic" test.

I have formatted the computer several times in the past year and the same lags have occured. I even fully formatted my computer (deleting all backups of my preinstalled applications including windows) and the same lag occured. So I feel this is a hard drive problem.

I am hoping this is a hard drive problem that can be fixed with a software. Thanks!

Depending on how much damage is on it you may have to buy a new one but before you do try this solution it may help you.

Hope that helps

here's seatools page explaining how you can try to repair the drive :- http://knowledge.sea...US/FAQ/202435en
and microsoft page on repairing Data Error (Cyclic Redundancy Check) :- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319128

personally i'd backup everything on the drive and replace it as soon as possible because it's failed the seatools tests.
