Alright, thanks. Still in the process of downloading the iso. It has come to 837 MB now on frist try, so atleast better than before, but it's a slow download, I'll leave it on over the night and hopefully will be done tomorrow.

Thanks for the tip, I'll keep it in mind.

Hi, once you do have the correct download and then burned it to disk or flash drive, the install shouldn't be too difficult if you follow the instructions on that link, however once installed you will need all the drivers as being a fresh install they will have to be put back.

You can download the drivers you will need from here :-

http://www.drivers-w...dows-7-drivers/

Chipset drivers should always be installed first, then after that, Windows may fill some of the gaps with its own generic drivers, the others can then be chosen from that link.

tadaa I'm posting this from my windows 7 installation. Have done the updates and installed avast antivirus.

I'm doing the drivers right now. Why do some functionalities seem to have several drivers? For example, there are two different drivers with the title: Win7 64-bit Acer Aspire 5740G Touchpad Driver . Thanks a lot for posting those btw, I hadn't really thought about them at all, and I'm noticing how difficult some things are right now that will hopefully work better after those are completely installed. :)

Thanks for the update and glad to here things are coming together, I think you will find that once all the correct drivers are installed it should be OK.

Let us know please of the final outcome.
