Hello, I have been working with the FRST tool and zoek.exe as well as mbam and with the problemsI had in the past that pertains to Content.ie5 folder, the FRST tool was able to get rid of files growing in size and volume in various different Content.ie5 folders and probably all but one folder is still showing signs of growth in size. These files are continuously growing. The more I get rid of them (with FRST and zoek.exe) the quicker the folder reappears with newer more aggressive files. With FRST I tried this:

C:\Users\Mayheme1\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.ie5

Then, I created another script in an effort to try and make sure no new files appear!

CloseProcesses:

C:\Users\Mayheme1\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.ie5

The problem persists in only one Content.ie5 folder and thats the one above. Right now I have 8 files in that folder and it seems like I'm getting 4 new ones each day. The FRST tool was able to make those files disappear in other Content.ie5 folders. I would check those folders and they stayed empty, thus far I'm confident that FRST could take care of the problem with thisContent.ie5 folder (shown above) so that the growth permanently cease.I also did chkdsk c: in command prompt and that was relatively beneficial. I also found and removed backdoor.simda a in the past.

On completion reboot
A log will be generated please post that

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.

• Close all open programs and internet browsers.
• Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
• Click on Scan.
• After the scan is complete click on "Clean"
• Confirm each time with Ok.
• Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
• Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer.
• You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.

FINALLY

Download aswMBR.exe ( 4.5mb ) to your desktop.
Double click the aswMBR.exe to run it.
You may be offered the option of using virtualisation, accept that
When it offers to download the virus database allow that as well
Click the "Scan" button to start scan




On completion of the scan click save log, save it to your desktop and post in your next reply

I'm not sure what shomypc is or how it got on my computer, I searched on my pc but couldn't find it. The funny thing is that the name, it seems like I have seen it before!

Go to control panel > imternet options > advanced tab > security sub section
Place a tick in empty temporary internet files when closed
Apply and then OK out

When I Place a tick in empty temporary internet files when closed (which is what I did) it doesn't do anything to the browsing history, am I right?

 

Also about the space, I will be checking the number on my hard drive periodically, but am I right about question above?

It actually clears everything in the temporary folders including history, how much history do you wish to keep ?

I just want to keep 20 days, right now I had it set at 20 days and I had a hacker problem where I couldn't control history setting. I would change it from 0 to 20 days and it would change back, so I just had it fixed recently in regards to that!

OK in that case remove the tick . Then after you have closed the browser go to internet options
On the general tab place a tick in the delete browsing history on exit
Press the delete key and on the dialogue that appears remove the tick from History
Then select delete and it will remember that setting

It looks like the problem with me losing space on my hard drive is still there, but the good news is that it took me this long to find out!

Is it still within your ie5temp folder ?

Yes, the number was at 4 files in that folder, but right now I hve 8 files in there total, 8 new ones.

That will increase as you use the web and there is no way around that I am afraid

You can control the size by going to control panel > internet options > general tab
Click Settings from there you can adjust the maximum size that the folder can grow to

I plan on downgrading to ie9 and seeing if that helps!
