Hello :)

Thank you for the logs. Let's check and see if your machine is in need of maintenance.

Please disable your antivirus for the duration of my instructions. Don't forget to re-enable them after you have completed the steps.

Step 1: Farbar's Service Scanner

Please download Farbar Service Scanner and run it on the computer with the issue.
  • Make sure the following options are checked:
    • Internet Services
    • Windows Firewall
    • System Restore
    • Security Center
    • Windows Update
  • Press "Scan".
  • It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
  • Please copy and paste the log to your reply.
Step 2: Check Hard Disk For Errors

Download the attached hddcheck.bat below and save to your Desktop:-

Now right-click on hddcheck.bat and select Run as Administrator to run the batch file. A blank command window will open on your desktop, then close in a few minutes. This is normal and the batch file itself will self-delete when completed.

A file icon named checkhd.txt should appear on your Desktop. Please post the contents of this file in your next reply.

Things I need to see in your next post:

Please post each of these logs as a separate reply in this thread.

Ok, so we're only experiencing the slowness with Internet Explorer, then? The slowness is not system wide, only regarding IE?

You're quite welcome, and don't worry about how long this is taking. :) I'm here to help as long as it takes to solve the problem. Let's try a reset of IE and see if that solves the issue.

Please follow the link below to find instructions on resetting IE. Once this is done, please let me know the results.

I'll have to dig a bit on the photo issue, but this should take care of IE not letting you download anything.

1.) Start IE and click Tools

2.) Select Tools.

3.) Select Internet Options.

4.) Select the Security Tab.

5.) Select the Internet Zone.

6.) Select Custom level ...

7.) Scroll down to the Downloads area.

8.) Check to Enable Automatic prompting for file downloads (N/A to IE9).

9.) Check to Enable File download.

Once this is done, please try downloading a file and let me know if it works.

That was already set to enable. I had to do that before so I checked it again. I am not getting any prompts at all. Like for the Farbar download it just said downloading and never prompt me to run or save it like it use to.

This should work, yes?

Hi :)

I need you to export a Registry key so we can take a look at it. Please follow the steps below.

1.) Click on Start and in the Start Search bar type in regedit. Click continue when the machine asks that you do so.

2.) Click the arrow beside HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then Software then Microsoft then Windows then CurrentVersion

then Policies then left click once to highlight Attachments. Whew! :)

3.) Right click once it's highlighted, and then click Export

4.) When the window opens, give it a name in the bar below such as registryexport. Then click the Save as Type bar below the name and select *.txt

and save it to your desktop.

5.) Use Notepad to open it and post it in your next reply. :)
