yes it has. One question though, my wifi is running badly, is it because of all the stuff we have been doing?

Just curious, as we have wireless devices that use the wifi and have not been able to for about a week.

Great news!!

No, it's extremely unlikely it would have anything to do with what we have been working on. My suggestion would be to power off all devices that use wifi. Then unplug the power to your internet equipment/wireless router for 30 seconds and then plug them back in. Then turn on all of your wifi devices. Beyond that, if you still have questions, you can post a topic in our Networking forum as they have much more knowledge in regards to this.

Since you are malware free, are you satisfied? If so I'll post some information on how to clean up our tools and also information on keeping your programs updated and staying safe.

Thanks.

Is my windows defender on?

It should not be. Please do the following to ensure it's not.

1. Click the Start Orb in the lower left corner of the screen and type defender in the search box.

2. Click on the Windows Defender item that shows up in the results.

3. You should get the following message. Let me know if you do or don't.

DefenderOffMessage.JPG

my Avast firewall will not turn on.

I'll address this after we check Windows Defender.

Good. Explain to me how you are trying to enable the Avast firewall and let me know the exact error messages that you get if any.

Thanks.

Let's try a repair on Avast.

1. Click the Start Orb in the lower left.

2. Click Control Panel

3. Click Uninstall a program.

4. Locate Avast Premier in the list.

5. Click the Change button.

6. When the Avast Installation screen comes up, click the Repair option.

7. Click Continue and let the product repair.

8. Reboot your computer even if not prompted.

Let me know if it works after this.

Let's verify that the Windows Firewall is in fact disabled.

1. Click the Start Orb.

2. Type firewall in the search box.

3. Click on Windows Firewall in the search results.

4. Click on Turn Windows Firewall on or off.

FirewallOnOff.JPG

5. When the screen comes up, ensure that all options are set to the red shield which is "Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended)".

Let me know how they were set.

OK, if a repair didn't work then an uninstall and reinstall should. I'm assuming you have the paid product of Avast Premier and you have a license key for it. Are you able to uninstall the program completely? Then reboot and re-install.

Let me know if you are able to do this or need assistance.

Thanks.
