Joe, no worries, I'm sick myself. A lot of nasties going around!

 

the computers lagging a lot, (especially web browsers) and getting messages of low memory. But better than it was.  I have more memory coming, but this thing only will take 4mb(?) of ram.

it's a cheap walmart pos and hardly worth the time I'm putting into it. But it's what my brother uses...

 

It had to have run better originally, any idea to see where memory consumption is going?

• Go Here to download HijackThis program
• Save HijackThis to your desktop.
• Right Click on Hijackthis and select "Run as Admin" (XP users just need to double click to run)

What do you use AOL for ?

None of these programs need to be running, there using up resources..... especially the AOL Entry.

yes memory is on it's way, going from 2-4 (max's out at 4)

Hijackthis is in the downloads folder. Can you move it to the desktop please.

To do that:
Just navigate to the downloads folder, in the downloads folder find Hijackthis, right click on it and choose Cut, now go back to your desktop and on an empty space right click and choose paste. Hijackthis should now be running from the desktop.

Then

• Close all browser windows.
• Open hijackthis. Right click it and run as administrator.
• Do a System scan only, wait for the scan to load.

Place a "check" mark in the following entries:

OK Joe, Again Thanks for all your help & time, I think this is the best this cheap system will ever be, still slow compared to my pc, but my pc is not 2 year old walmart special!
