How about reinstalling Avast?
Before installing an AV can I ask if you have checked the wireless connection at all.
Wireless is good.
Now that the computer is behaving itself and you have confirmed that you have internet connectivity download Avast free Antivirus to the bottom left here and you will avoid any unwanted foistware landed on you by the likes of CNet and others like them.
Post back with an update after Avast is installed and running.
Been running fine now for over 24hrs.
On startup however , this message appears: The procedure entry point SymSetSynWithAddr64 could not be located in the dynamic link library DBGHELP.dll
Its hardly a major issue , but thought I'd mention it anyway.
