herman32,

:welcome:

Which Model Dell inspiron ? USB keyboard plugged into a port on back with a wire ? Chances could be keyboard or the driver software that communicates with PC for this keyboard.

Since you are saying not too computer savy, hard for me to go into too much detail till i know bit more from you.

herman32,

Please do not post multiple times while waiting for a reply, not only is it poor forum etiquette but also less likely to get you a reply any quicker, fwiw jd has not been online since 03:07 AM

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode with Networking to see if the issue is the same, if not try it, restart the notebook while continually tapping the F8 key and then selecting the Safe Mode with Networking option, use the computer as you normally would to see if the issue is still present, if it is it suggests a hardware as opposed to software problem.

Another thing to try if you can is connecting a USB type keyboard if you have or can borrow one.

Yes, 3:07am your time Phill, :spoton:

Did not know what system yet, now knowing it is a Laptop, changes matters to the issue.

Yes, software or hardware, not too familiar with laptop keyboard issues. Since not a seperate hardware. Try Phill suggestions.
