Intel provide many different CPU coolers so we could not hazard a guess as to what the cooler is that you have and most certainly not the dimensions I`m afraid, a physical check is best and please note that the dimensions used are mm and not cm  :thumbsup:

As an asides, can I ask why you refer to the CPU heatsink and cooling fan as an external CPU cooler.

So just opened the computer back up and measured it, hopefully my ruler is accurate.

Width = 80 mm

Length = 80 mm

Height = 50 mm

A very small one that was standard with it. But there's the dimensions hehe.

On the question about the external thing. Bad habit I think. When it's not part of the CPU itself or anything, I tend to call it external, haven't gotten that out of my system yet. I know it's not external, bad habits  :bashhead:

CPU coolers that size are few and far between, one example I found here

I was just curious about the external thing btw, it was clear what you meant  :thumbsup:

It does look alot like that. I'm trying to find it but can't find the name. I'll update my post once I find the name or link.

Man finding a good CPU cooler is some work hehe. I think the Cooler master hyper 212 evo should fit. What's the advice at this point, go with it or ?

Edit. Found it, but it doesn't have any details on it. http://click.intel.c...-solutions.html this is the one.

Aye not much information at all and the magnification tool is farcical  :wacko:

Read the Newegg reviews for the 212 Evo and they are highly favourable for the most part so if it will fit I would say go for it, take a look at the Newegg feedback as you will gain info from people who have used the HS and fan in different size cases and Ram that has heat spreaders attached etc, see here

The link for the Rosewill cooler shows a replacement that is identical to the stock cooler, 4 push pins to hold it in place and fan on top blowing down towards the the CPU top.

You are looking at a different style of cooler, heat pipes drawing heat up into a tower and a fan blowing sideways through the fins.   The heatsink base for a specific CPU socket will fit,  in your case socket 1155.   The footprint of the cooler base will stay within the outer marked line on the MB.

Go to > http://www.gigabyte....spx?pid=4144#ov click on the flat image of the MB to give it focus, hover your mouse over the image, look at the bottom right mounting hole, you will see an outer line, this goes all around the socket and a cooler footprint will stay within that line.

It is the fan/s attached to the tower were measurement are important, between the RAM head spreaders and the bottom of the fan, also the high of the cooler from the heatsink base to the closed side panel.

To determine how hard an installation will be for you, remove the right side case panel, can you see the back of the MB showing the 4 white push pins that hold the cooler in place? is the hole in the mounting plate fairly big? please upload a pic.

So. I haven't updated this post in a few days now. Been busy and turned sick so haven't had much time.

But I did end up buying the Cooler master Hyper 212 evo. And because it was my 'first time' actually installing a CPU cooler on a motherboard I took it slow and precise, took me half a day. Mostly because of the fact that I had to put all the cables back in the motherboard and.. I forgot where a few of them were supposed to be so.. well I took my time and in the end everything is working perfectly.

And I have to say I am pleased with the results. When I made this post without the cooler, my temperatures when watching Twitch were around 50-54, sometimes a bit higher.

Now I am watching Twitch and it's only around 40. When playing games, similar, somethimes it would hit 60 - 65 degrees celsius when playing, now it BARELY hits 50, mostly it stays at about 45-47. So all in all, great results. I was a bit worried about people saying that you can hear the fan. But I haven't heared it yet, only very very slightly. And if it becomes annoying I can replace the fan.

But overall I am very pleased with the results, temperatures are really great, giving me great comfort, I can play games AND watch Twitch and my temperatures are still not as high as they were so. I am happy :)!

I do want to thank everyone who replied.

One question that I have though. In regards to the fan, any recommendations. I'm not saying I'm gonna replace it at the moment, but it's always good to have some recommendations for whenever I will replace it :P!

Anyway, thanks again :)!

Glad to hear that the upgrade went well and that you have seen the temperatures drop  :thumbsup:

Not sure about any replacement fan for your cooler and so would suggest that you contact CM tech support, details here

You are welcome btw  :)
