Also like to add to the above, the desktop I will buy will have nothing to do with gaming. This is much more of a home/business use.

:welcome: snash1039.

Glad you added that rider.   The 2 builds are gaming rigs and not very well balanced at that.

Looks like you want a ready build system with support?

Would it cost you money if the system was down for a week?

What type of software would you likely use, i.e. Office, Myob, TradeGecko?

Thanks for your comment.

The quote I got from Chillblast ... wasn't really catered for gaming at all. If would have very little use, as I am not  personally a game person. They insisted the best one for my needs. The same applies to the PC Specialist.

I want a system that can last 5/6 years ... a powerful one...and then I can upgrade and look further. What is the point in spending more now for a high spec desktop now, I just rather get apple mac.

Is there a difference in motherboards between the two:

1 Chillblast.   Asus B85M-G Basic Micro ATX Motherboard - Haswell CPU only

2. Pc Specialist. Motherboard ASUS® Z97-A: ATX, USB3.0, SATA 6GB/S, SLi, XFIRE

It would be much easer to Taylor help for you if you answered the 3 questions.

For a home/business computer, you do not need a discrete graphics card.

You do not need an i7 CPU, that would be ore suited for a poto/video/cad workstationThose system are unbalanced.

Look on the HP Home site, business computers.

Here are the 2 MBs, > http://www.newegg.co...132-215:$$$$$$$

The ASUS B85M-G is a series 8 Macro (small) board and very basic.   It would do the job but low end, more suited for Mum browsing/skype/faceboo/twitter.   don/t think it would last 5 years,

The ASUS Z97-A is series 9 atx (regualar) board with heaps more features, will do the job but a bit overkill as you don't need GPU sli capabilities.

Sorry Iammykyl,

Yes I want support for a ready made system.

Well, if I paid good money for a system that went down, I will be covered by the manufaturers guarantee.

I am not particularly fussed, I have not heard of myob or tradegecko. ..is there a differance between the office packages?

Thanks for the update.

Myob is a complete accounting package, does "payroll, tax audits, invoicing etc.

tradegecko is for invontary management, Manage all your sales, stock, accounting, shipping and customer data from a single place.

Office, >http://en.wikipedia....icrosoft_Office

I don'ty want to steer you into the wrong path, so not being nosy, but need more info.

What kind of business are you running, eSales, consulting, construction, engineering?

Do you employ other people.

Support.  I asked to determine what level you might want.

Normally you get basic with a purchase, telephone support, (not usually software problems) and return computer to base for repairs,(shipping, you pay. (software problems usually pay extra) Parts covered by manufacturers warranty.

Pay for support basic.   As above, no shipping costs, software problems included.

Premium.   Everything including on site support, (time limits may apply)

Thanks for the PM, I will get back later with a HP business package that may suit.

I will be going into the Internet Marketing field. So I would expect the very least the microsoft word, excel, etc.

PDF, stream videos, browsing, using social media, all the basic packages. Also, will be using program to build

my own sites. And a quite a lot of downloading.

I have just started a business, and a one man band operation.

I would need a system  which has a  Hard drive.  I will save a load of data. Max 2 TB

memory 8 to 16GB.
A fast system

A good dvd player.

Good graphics.

Intel i5 or i7

And windows 7, would not even think of having 8.1 it is ghastly.

Thanks for the update.

An i5 4690K  wil more tha cope with your workload.

Given the other specs, Web development, 16GB RAM, an of the shelve HP system is not feasible.

I have configured a custom build on PC specialists which would do everything you want including the silver service support, the graphics is integrated, which will defiantly suffice  to begin with, if you do not find it enough with more advanced web design, I have specified a 550 what PSU, this would allow the addition of a discrete card later.

Let us know what you think.

Not a bad configuration.

I know you mentioned HP....but if I were to choose from the link I given, which one would be ideal?

On the list above you also mentioned the windows home premium which they are charging 79 pounds,

I think you can get this cheaper from places like gumtree/ebay half the price. The microsoft home office

again can be purchased cheaply.

The external hard drive would not be required.

My only other grudge would be the i5 as opposed to the i7.

Thanks in advance.

OK, hope this is better.

OS, I would advice only to buy from a reputable source.   I have left it in the build as they will fully install and test, ultimately up to you.

I hardly game but watch streamed content and record voice. I have been using this set for six months.   Decent sound and comfortable to wear for a couple of hours.
