Hello Joe,

I did it and the result is:

Service registration is missing or corrupt        fixed

Problems installing recent updates                 fixed

Windows update services not running            not fixed

Windows update error 0x80070003(2015-02-05-T-12_13_45P)      not fixed

So not sure if I now have all the updates or not.

Thanks, J.

Please download Farbar Service Scanner from here http://download.blee.../farbar/FSS.exe and run it on your computer.

Make sure the following options are checked:
  • Internet Services
  • Windows Firewall
  • System Restore
  • Security Center
  • Windows Update
Press "Scan".
It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

Lets try one more fixit,

Farbar Service Scanner Version: 17-01-2015
Ran by Kris (administrator) on 08-02-2015 at 19:03:33
Running from "C:\Users\Kris\Desktop"
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (X64)
Boot Mode: Normal

This is what that line in bold should show:
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 (X64)
You're missing service pack 1 windows up date should have installed that along with any other updates.

Please run the fix it below, visit the web page and click runnow on the fixit window.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

Then visit windows up-date and see if it works.

Joe,

here is the reply:

Troubleshooting is complete

Thank you for running an automated troubleshooter from Microsoft

We did not detect any problems and therefore no fixes were applied

So I guess this is it. Am still happy with how the computer is running now!!! Just won't do any things that require safety like going to my bank account.

Will use a different computer for that.

Wonder what Dell support would say, if I contacted them, meaning the free group support they offer?

best, J
