My computer shuts off whenever it does any "strenous" activity.

Watching video clips online, burning cd's, running virus scans, etc. The fan kicks in and after a little while, the computer shuts itself off. I don't know what the problem could be. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go. I would suspect the computer is over heating and shuts down. You should check your cooling fans, are they working properly? Do they need to be cleaned? Use canned air to clean these. Be careful working inside the case. Observe anti static precaustions.
