Dad at one time installed calloway range finding software to track his handicap and get course downloads.  This calloway program also installed the UPRO remote device drivers under the network adapters.  He no longer uses this but it has never been a problem until he bought a new HP officejet pro 8610.  The HP software will not install and reports conflict with these UPRO miniport drivers.  I uninstalled the Calloway software but it did not remove the UPRO drivers.  I disable them but the HP software still says there is a conflict with them.  How can they be removed?

Hi,

 

I'm not familiar with the software you mention but did you check the network properties to see if there is any extra network protocol (the image show the default)?

If you see something related to the removed software select it and click Uninstall.

I checked and nothing there it looks just like what your post looked like...not sure how you post an image here.  nothing special going on that I can see.

Hi,

 

Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.
Close the browser and run the tool, check the following options:

  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List Winsock Entries
  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs
  • List Devices (select Only Problems)
  • List Users, Partitions and Memory size
  • List Minidump Files
  • List Restore Points

Click on Go.


Post the resulting log in your next reply.

See all  devices, including unconnected and hidden in Device Manager:

 

Create a new Environment variable called devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices and set it's value to 1 as follows:

  • Right click on My Computer and select Properties
  • Click on the Advanced tab
  • Click on the Environmental Variables button
  • Click the New button under the User variables for xxxxx" area.
  • Set the Variable name as: devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices
  • Set the Variable value to: 1
  • Click OK as needed to close all the windows you opened.

To see the status of everything in Device Manager:

  • Open Device Manager:Hardware tab, Device Manager
    • XP: Control Panel, System, Hardware tab, Device Manager
    • Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8:Control Panel, System, Advanced System Settings,
  • Click on View then Show hidden devices.

See if UPRO shows up. If so Uninstall it.

Did you try to uninstall in Safe Mode?

I did try in safe mode and that was before I created the environmental variable since the drivers show up in the device manager.  Since creating the environmental variable I have not tried, which I wouldn't expect to make any difference but can try.

Hi,
 
Lets see if we can force the removal of the devices...
 
1º - Create a System Restore Point

  • Click Start and then All Programs. Slide right to Accessories, choose System Tools, then System Restore.
  • Choose Create a Restore Point. Clik Next.
  • In the Restore point description, name the Restore Point.
    - Ex: Before Removal
    (The date and time will automatically appear in the Restore Point so you don't have to include these in the name)  
  • Click Create.
  • When the Restore Point is created, click Close.

 

2º - Uninstall Devices

  • Open the Device Manager
  • Right click on the UPRO Remote NDIS based Device #2 - Packet Scheduler Miniport, choose Update Driver
  • Choose Browse my computer.
  • In the next window, choose Let me pick driver from a list.
  • Uncheck Show compatible hardware. From the Manufacturer list, choose Microsoft, and from the Network Adapter list, choose MAC Bridge Miniport.
  • Back in the Device Manager, delete the device that just turned into the MAC Bridge Miniport device.
  • Repeat the steps from 2 to 6 for all of the UPRO Remote NDIS based Device #*) devices

Once done removing restart the computer.

Heeheheee, that was sneaky and that worked!  Thanks all have been removed and I have been able to install the printer drivers now.
