Hi All,

I've had a family members PC go down very suddenly. Upon startup it will get as far as aswrvrt.sys trying to load and failing. The system is XP Home Edition.

I attempted to run a recovery console on it using the repair cd, but after typing in ;

chkdsk c: /r

I get a blue screen of death, with this error message ;

STOP: C0000139 {Entry point not found}
The procedure entry point NTSerializeBoot could not be located in the dynamic link library ntdll.dll

(I may have set this Recovery Console up wrongly though, I followed some guide from online as I don't have the manufacturer cd to hand any more.)

Main problem  is the aswrvrt.sys issue, I cannot get any further, I have tried all modes such as safe and safe with command/networking. No progress.

I have a working pc nearby so can download tools and follow steps ok.

All help would be very much appreciated!!!
