Just tried and it's the same error. It opens up fine it only says the error when I try to type in a command. I tried opening program files for example and it displayed the same message.

Copy and paste this command in, you can do it in regular mode.

copy:
sfc /scannow

Right click in the command prompt window and choose paste.

Ok, this worked in administrator mode only when I opened the command prompt. Here are the results

"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir/Logs/CBS/CBS.log For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not supported in offline servicing scenearios."

Weird I tried to open the logs of where it stated and it opens wordpad then says "Accese  is denied"

Next another command

Copy:

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

to repair any component store corruption, restart the PC afterwards, and try the sfc /scannow command again.

Hello,

"Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations."

By using this command:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

We cleaned up the image an restored the health.

You must be certain of the commands you're typing in, that in fact, those commands are recognized or valid commands or the command prompt will generate an error as you saw.

So it looks like command prompt was working all along, but it appears from system file checker (sfc /scannow) there was issue with some system files and that's fixed too, because there are no more integrity violations..

Hello,

There was no rootkit, it was a McAfee Anti Virus issue, where McAfee gets stuck and displays Rootkit, it's a known issue and is supposed to be fixed with an up-Date

How is the computer since you have reinstalled ?

Ah ok it is good, I had some extensions which made me reformat as well like "tinywallet" every time i would uninstalled it, it would come back up when i reopened a new browser or restarted my pc.

So since the reformat everything is good.. :-)

Thanks for your help Joe, appreciate the support.

Download DelFix by Xplode and save it to your desktop.
  • Run the tool by right click on the 51a5ce45263de-delfix.png icon and Run as administrator option.
  • Make sure that these ones are checked:
  • Remove disinfection tools
    Push Run
The program will run for a few seconds and display a notepad report.
    Paste it for my review.
