I'm new to VPNs and I've only heard that they are used for remote data access, but these days that can be handled by a private cloud next to your home computer.  I was wondering if I could run programs on the VPN server when I'm at a remote location with my laptop.  I'd like to confirm that this is possible before I spend time attempting it.  Does anyone know if a user can run programs over a VPN connection?

I hope that I'm communicating well when I post messages.  Was my message not clear?  What did I leave out?

like i said not exactly sure what your wanting to do, media streaming, nas, run programs on your vpn server or run programs on another pc through your vpn server, etc. etc.

so there might be a few different ways of achieving what your after,

for example you might just need something like teamviewer to remote control a pc. :- http://www.teamviewe...m/en/index.aspx

but i think i answered the actual question you asked.

Does anyone know if a user can run programs over a VPN connection?

but if i didn't then the answer is yes you can run programs over a vpn.
