Unable to erase and reset iPad despite using standard protocol. Keep getting failed attempt messages despite correct password. Even when set to automatically erase after 10 failed attempts, it will not reset. Advice.?

Hi Rangermarc,

Welcome to Geeks to Go! :)

Your request for help was not intentionally overlooked. I do apologize that you had to await a reply.

To be honest, I am not an iPad user myself though my curiosities led me to the following topic that might be of some help to you.

If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Please let me know if the above link was helpful in any way.

Thank you,
Donna :)

Wiping you iOS device is easy, the only thing you’re going to need is your device passcode, Apple ID and Apple Password.

- Go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase all Content and Settings.

- An Erase iPhone/iPad warning box will now pop up. Click Erase and enter the device’s passcode and Apple ID info when prompted.

- The device will then reset and, when completed, you’ll be presented with an iPhone/iPad as if it were straight out of the box.

How to reset an iPhone or iPad remotely

If you’ve lost your iPhone or iPad and want the peace of mind knowing any stored data will not be accessed, you can also remotely wipe your device.

- Go to www.iCloud.com/#find > enter your Apple ID > click Find My iPhone.

- Click on the option All Devices > chose the device you want to erase.

- Click Erase iPhone/iPad to delete everything from iPad

Note that if you’ve lost your device, you can remotely play a sound on your iPhone/iPad to help you locate it.
