After reinstalling Windows 7 on my ASUS laptop, when I go to the "shut down" button sleep and hibernate are greyed out. Also, when trying to set power options sleep option is not available.

Alright. If you go in Device Manager, do you see any devices listed under Other devices? If so, which ones? To get in the Device Manager, right-click on Computer and select Properties. From there, in the left pane, click on Device Manager.

All have a yellow exclamation point in front. Clicking on each says "driver for this device is not installed (code28)"

Clicking on update driver, "windows could not find driver for your device"

A lot of drivers are missing, hence your problem Is it possible for you to give me your laptop brand and model (that can be found on a sticker either under the laptop or on the computer case) and also you're version of Windows 7 (32 or 64-bits)? I'll help you get all your drivers and we'll install them one by one, how does that sound?

Found the drivers webpage for your laptop on ASUS website Let's start with the Ethernet Controller and Chipset drivers.

If after an installation, it asks you to restart your computer, please do so. Once both are installed, let me know which devices are showing under Other devices in the Device Manager.

didn't ask for shut down but did anyways. Device list same except Ethernet controller was removed

Alright let's try something. Right-click on a Base System Device, and select Properties. From there, go in the Details tab and select Hardware Ids in the drop down menu. Copy/paste the first line that appears in the box below in your next reply please. Also, can you do the same for the PCI Simple Communications Controller?
