My laptop has 4gb ram installed and showing on system information however whenever a programme has to detect how much ram i've got (e.g. to see if i can run a game) it shows as 64mb. Even when my girlfriend installed the sims, it advised that only 64mb was installed. Anyone know how i can fix this? hope this isnt a re-post

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here,  this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

to be honest i don't think it's your 4GB system memory that is being seen as only 64MB, it is the memory allocated to / used by your graphics hardware in the laptop out of that 4GB.

i'd go onto your bios and see if it can be increased you may be able to increase it to 128MB or so but it also may be that 64MB is the max amount you can allocate to the graphics anyway.
