Note from original submitter - after substituting a new network card determined this was not a software problem. The new card did the trick

Obviously posting this from a second comupter:
Problem is:
Can't connect with IE 6 to internet.
Network Connection appears active
Had deleted several java plug-ins in 'download files' viewable from settings/view objects under tools/nternet opptions thinking they would reload on next IE launch.
Have also made a couple of changes in Advanced settings but have now 'restored defaults' - the only Java setting here is Java(IBM) "Use Java 2 v 1.4.1 for <applet> (requires restart) - this was never changed

Thanks in advance for whatever you can tell me :tazz:

Have followed as much as I can of the instructions (as follows) at
http://www.geekstogo..._Log-t2852.html

1. Could not connect to Winsock or Cleanup
2. Have run Ad-aware SE and cleaned up (with current updates)
3. Ran CWShredder (completely clean)
4. SpyBot not on this machine
5. Could not load EWIDO Security Suite, Trend housecall, or TDS-3 (no connection)
6. In lieu of AVG I use Norton/Symantec and have found no virus there.
7. IE shows SP2 installed
rebooted and ran hijack as attached
