Hi,

I am trying to help a friend out by reformatting his laptop.

it's a lenovo t500 thinkpad.

have tried the boot order multiple times to get it to load but no

luck so far.He tells me the hard drive has just been replaced with

one he had that was wiped clean,I thought great, should be no problem.

there is an option to check the hard drive from the bios and according to

that all's well.not sure how to proceed from here.Appreciate any help you

could give me...tks,Cheers.

What OS are you trying to install?
Where did you get the install disc (CD or DVD)?
Are you sure the disc is bootable and good? Has it been used before?

Could be the optical drive is defective.

Hi ,thanks for the reply.the os is xp pro.

It's not an orginal microsoft copy so I assume it was probably

downloaded off the net.

He says that the disc drive always worked fine.I believe this comp came

from the company he works for but not positive about that.

I have tried loading my legit copy of vista with the same results.

If I can't get an os installed,no big deal, pretty sure he got it for free.

     thanks,
