I'm looking to use bluetooth headphones on an old amp with no bluetooth capability. Is it possible to use a bluetooth adapter in the headphones port on the amp to connect to the headphones? In other words, does the bluetooth signal work both ways on the adapters or will it only transmit music into whatever it's plugged into.

if you've got a Bluetooth audio adapter, it will transmit audio to whatever device is paired with the adapter. you can only connect one device at a time (like one set of headphones) of course (unless you find some fancy adapter that can do more than one....which...may exist. I haven't looked for them)

awesome, thanks. i wasn't sure if it only received audio and i was afraid it would be disappointed.

well you're still fairly unclear as what you mean by "it" and "only received audio". a Bluetooth adapter will SEND audio from whatever source it's configured to attach to. so, if it's an adapter with a headphone plug coming out of it, it will send the signal from the headphone jack out to whatever Bluetooth device is connected

plug it into your amp headphone socket and then pair it to your bluetooth headphones.

thanks. to be a little more clear i thought possibly that you plug the adapter into the headphone jack and it would only be designed to play the music INTO the device its plugged into, not transmit the music out to another device.

yes you can have that happen also depending on the adaptor, a transmitter type like the one linked previously, the data goes from the device it's plugged into to the adaptor and then is sent to a secondary bluetooth receiver device like your heaphones, but if you bought a bluetooth receiver type like this one :-  http://www.amazon.co...tooth aux input

then the data goes from a transmitter device into the bluetooth adaptor into the device it's plugged into, you wouldn't be able to plug this type into a headphone jack and have it work tho because headphone jacks are data output only sockets and not data input sockets.

 

so as stated your looking for a bluetooth transmitter adaptor and not a receiver adaptor for your particular scenario of getting music from the amp via the headphone jack to your bluetooth headset.
