I have a newly formatted Optilplex 780 running a celeron processor @ 2.3 ghz, 32 bit with 4 gb ram

I installed AVG and Malwarebytes on it and sent it to my cousin. He complained that the video was slow so I went to his house and tried some video news clips in Chrome and IE and he was right. Video is very jerky like it was constantly jerking. I went to task manager and it looked pretty normal with a spike in cpu usage every few seconds. What do you think?
Thanks

Hi geno :)

Since you just installed Windows 7 Professional on the computer, did you think about installing the latest graphic card drivers for it?

Thanks for the reply.

I didn't think it would be necessary since the OE system was 7 pro....

If you did a clean installation of Windows, then every drivers might not have been installed. Do you have access to the computer right now?

Gday.

If you did a clean installation of Windows, then every drivers might not have been installed.

This is correct, but also, because manufacturers like Dell optimize drivers to suite specific systems, Windows installed drivers may not be the best.

Go to > http://www.dell.com/...lex-780/drivers (ensure this is our model) click on the System Analysis button, then follow any instructions.

Did you end up installing the latest video card drivers or not? Network, Chipset and BIOS aren't graphic-related.

I don't see any program that could cause this issue. Did you try disabling AVG and Malwarebytes and see if the issue was the same?

My guess is that your CPU (processor) is too slow.

Single-core at 2.3 GHz?  I'm surprised it can even run Windows 7, to be honest.  I'm pretty sure you need at least 2.8 GHz to effectively run the OS, not including videos.

If it's a dual-core 2.3 GHz, then disregard my post.

Good luck!

Well, the product have full drivers support for Windows Vista and Windows 7 and is a late 2009 desktop, so I guess that it was made for Vista or 7, but officially, it supports it.

Indeed, Aura.  I was basing my statement off of this:

...running a celeron processor @ 2.3 ghz, 32 bit...  I went to task manager and it looked pretty normal with a spike in cpu usage every few seconds. What do you think?
Thanks

While the PC may support the usage of Windows 7, that wouldn't necessarily mean that it can [optimally] run HD videos in addition to the OS using the built-in GPU, right?

It seems to me the problem in question is playing videos.  If the CPU usage is "spiking" and the videos are "jerky", wouldn't this denote a correlation?
