So i just got this computer for free basically and its brand new and it was the only 11 inch i could get and i wanted something small for school and transport. Its a tad slow and i wanted to speed it up a bit here are the specs:

 

Inspiron 11 3147 Series 2-in-1

 

Processor: Intel® Celeron® CPU N2830 @2.16GHz 2.16GHz

Installed Memory (RAM): 4.00 GB (3.89 GB Useable)

System Type 64-bit OS, x64- based processor

Windows 8.1

500 GB hard drive 

Pen and Touch: Full Windows Touch Support with 10 Touch Points

 

I was wondering what i could really do to speed it up, i looked into it a bit and found out i can upgrade to 8gbs of RAM and to an SSD drive, ive never done any real computer work but I'm willing to try but only if it really works, is the processor complete junk? or will the 8gbs and SSD drive really do anything?

 

Is it possible to Overclock the CPU and is it safe?

any recommendations or insight is welcome, or if you know where to get the parts for cheap just let me know, thanks

Can't overclock a Laptop CPU, or you'd be stupid to try.

 

I mean my system runs at 1.6Ghz with a Max TS 2.0 of 2.3Ghz and it'll run everything perfectly from games to Word Processing. Keep in mind though, I have a Dual Core i5.

 

As for the upgrading, from what I've read, it's possible, and Easy. But I've never upgraded a Laptop before.
